Sorrowful Trees Poem by Shaun Cronick

Sorrowful Trees

Rating: 5.0

Sorrowful trees,
Sallow and Yew.
Sighs are your breeze,
Tears are your dew.

Sad is your shade,
Gloomy and cold.
Where she is laid,
Under the mould.

Kind were her deeds,
Gentle and true.
Nothing she needs,
My soul subdued.

Funeral dark weeds,
Over her tomb.
Worn by my knees,
Under your gloom.

Spring will return,
Autumn brings leaves.
Summer shall burn,
Winter will freeze.

Seasons can range,
Ages may roll.
Nothing can change,
Grief from my soul.

Living I writhe,
Forever in pain.
Time with it's scythe,
Wounds me in vain.

Still my heart bleeds,
Sadly I mourn.
Few were her needs,
God I now scorn.

Funeral dark weeds,
Where she is laid.
Sleeping at ease,
Under your shade.

Sighs are your breeze,
Tears are your dew.
Sorrowful trees,
Sallow and Yew.
