If I should proclaim one thing giving me purpose
For each new day inspiring heart, ennobling the mind
Stirring flesh to passion and Muse to joyous praise,
It would be you, beloved, so beautiful and intelligent.
You are my soulmate, royal and precious to my heart
Bedazzling, heroic companion, lover and confidant
Reason for me seeing God in his glory everywhere.
You are the beat of my heart, supporting and encouraging
Never rebuking, irremovable, bold and resolute at my side
Love overwhelming through good and bad times.
When my steps falter and I fall prey to the black dog
You pick carry me onwards until my confidence returns
Through darkness to welcome light at the storm's end
Where all is quiet and peaceful and love flourishes bright.
