Sperm Or No Sperm Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Sperm Or No Sperm

All of a sudden he decides,
He wants to be in his children's lives.
They have been long on their own.
And alone they grew up...
Until they were grown.
Now 'daddy' decides,
He'd like to be a father by their side.

All of a sudden he wants to play dad.
Even his ex-wife and grandchildren...
Don't think of him.
And when they do those thoughts are sad.
He has lived his life,
Being one of the 'boys'!
And now that he has put away his toys...
He shows up...
To annoy!

And all who witness this,
Agree!
Wherever he has been and whoever he is...
To them,
He remains an absentee father!
Sperm or no sperm,
He did not earn respect!

And as far as they are concern,
He can squirm his excuses elsewhere.
They have recovered from the 'affect'...
Of his neglect they have forgiven,
And forgotten!
And his appearance would be better if kept...
Invisible!
