Spring Kittens Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Spring Kittens

The winds of a wicked winter loosen their grip
Fists open as frigid fingers feel spring's warmth
Numbness disappears as elongating icicles drip
Willow branches are revived by the sun's hearth

Buds with miracles inside… begin to bulge
Soon silky-haired blossoms emerge;
cozy kittens hug their tails while in dreamland
When their coats are stroked gently… they purr

If branches are clipped the furry blooms
will continue to cling.. staying very devoted
If allowed to mature… yellow flowers will blossom
on thin stems… from a silvery gray feline coat

When seeds of love develop and the wind blows…
God's creations are nudged and take airy flight
The days of summer will not see the fuzzy kittens
They have scampered away…out of sight

Foliage is now growing from the willow branches
Rumors of the disappearing kittens are stirring
When green leaves are interrogated …they sigh
softy… the furry little kittens will return in the spring
