Spring Snowfall Poem by Elliott Rosenberg

Spring Snowfall

Rating: 4.5

Along the lake nestled by crabtrees lining the morning sky,
there is a certain peace that abounds,
It is a silence where blue skies kiss frozen lakes,
under a distant sun that rises.

The snow melts in open patches where heavens lips have trodden,
Leaving rings of fire along its banks to quench.

Lilly pads blossom,
torn between her lovers,
spring that calls her flower from winters breaching arms.

Many moons at dusk,
ripple through the night, shimmering on the surface to
keep this love in sight.

Now that snowflakes have fallen and freckled mirrored ice,
They gather for a prayer to leave no martyr behind.

So the seasons wither and hold each others hands,
keeping to the rythm of a thousand dancing stars.

For when the dawn has broken,
and sealed its final blow,
Life will give its color,
To every tree that cries.

Its tears will cling to branches,
wich swell beneath the cold,
grasping for some sunlight,
And free our loving souls.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It was a beautiful Florida winter day. And then a spring snowfall appeared before me. Her skin was draping white, glistening in the crowd like custard caps on a snow mountain.
We said hello. We said goodbye. She was lost. I was her guide.
And so her warmth touched my heart this morning leaving snowflakes in my path.
Dedicated to Niam february 10th,2012.
