Staggering Senses Poem by Amanda Swindahl

Staggering Senses

Staggering my senses,
Losing my mind,
Drink it all down,
Pour my life out,
Pouring out my dreams,
pour it all down the drain,
Hours go by.
Watch it all go down.
Fills the spaces,
Drowns the sorrow,
for a moment,
forget it all,
everything turns black,
Black to white,
World spins.

Staggering my senses,
Losing my mind,
A reflection I find.
Fallen, she watches her heart,
she rinses it all down.
Loosens my grip,
starting to slip.
Slipping into my staggering senses.

Don't follow that light.
Staggering my senses into the dark.
Staggering to falling,
Unable to move,
My heart is racing,
fingers shaking.
My body numbs,
Forget the pain.

Conscious I wake,
Still unable to think,
Barely can I breathe,
Left in the middle of the room,
Just one more drink,
Rinse it all down,
Drown the sorrow,
Forget the pain,
Watch the lights go down,
for a moment,
forget it all,
I’m pouring my life out.
