Stale Air Poem by Judy Jones

Stale Air

An empty balloon
Bouncing around
Filling up on others' dreams and admirations
I grab hold of you
and exhale
I fill you up with all my dreams and desires
You reshape and distort
for me
But then you float down to the ground,
flat, still
I grab hold of you again and exhale
until I turn blue
And still you fall down and just lay there
I tell you the winds are changing,
which direction would you like to go?
You blink, confused
You just lay there stagnant and still
Nowhere
I see another wind is approaching
I say, 'let's ride this one together'
But you say nothing
Stagnant
Empty
So I take a step back
and let the wind sweep me away
