Star © Poem by Roann Mendriq

Star ©

Last night fell swiftly, shadows crept
upon a dark and charcoal sky;
One lonely star looked down and wept,
pearl tears splashed from silver eyes.

Her tears were not the normal kind
that fall with anguish, angst and grief;
No, these were rare and hard to find;
These were tears of pure relief

and thanks at last that night had come
to celebrate the glorious day,
a day when faith would not succumb
to those who went astray.

And so her tears rained down to light
the earth that slept within the night.
