If I were not a witness
Of the murder of the twin birds
And had not I faced two floods
And seen so much human blood to waste away
And met Babur on the day when the gate of heaven
Broken into pieces to the barbaric waves
Then I could have saved enough tears
To shed over the death of you
My darling
And weep at the grave
Of your dogs which snatched away
The morsels from the mouth of children from Kabul to Babylon
From Ahmadabad to Palestine but the ducks
Of my eyes went dry,
My darling
For I cried for Grahame stain
And his two sons
In the kingdom of Asoka
when they were burnt down alive
No more I could move my mind
And melt my heart by your sweet romantic words
As I saw the heinous crimes in Bosnia
Hard core actions of cruelty in Chechnya
Now I am a statue
Unable to meet your kind demands
And human enquiries
If you can
Pardon me, my darling
please! !
