Stone To The World Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Stone To The World

Turn around your fairplay heart
And render it less limber
Spent time in love's debasement dungeon
And swallowed extraordinary misstatements
Lost flexibility as a result of this treatment
Lost openness as a result of this treatment

And I act like I don't care
I act like I'm above it all
Irony is like physics - I pretend to get it but don't

We live in a world of stand-up comics
Who perform every day
They are the funniest customer service people you've ever seen
They have been brainwashed into thinking they're part of this
We are the TV stars we have been waiting for
Like a budding opiate that affects the sense and reduces the ability to tell what's real from what's not real

Charitable giving is down
Our will to do right for others has been destroyed
The only power left to me is to show my backside to those I have no obligation to help

Charitable giving is none of my concern
I let it get to me
I let it make me hard through and through
