Stop My Dream - Poem by Ramona Thompson

Been through the fire
Been through the pain
I'm stumbled and I'm fallen
But I'll be damned if I don't get right back up
Crawling on my hands and knees
No matter what I swear
I'm gonna keep on coming back
Again and again and again
Hear this
My primal scream
Baby, there ain't nothing that's gonna
Stop my dream

Been told time and again
Give up
Girl, you ain't never gonna amout to nothing
Go on back to the assembly line
Play the part, child
The part we all have to
Struck in some boring, endless 9 to 5
Babe, that just ain't me
So say what you want
Do what you want
Don't mean I'm gonna listen
Don't mean I'm gonna let you

Ranting and raving
I hear a million downcast voices in my head screaming
Once more
Once again
Damning it all
One more time
Telling me that I can't do what I know I can do
Got me steaming
Stark raving mad
Better back off now or somebody's gonna get theirs
Somebody's gonna get hurt
For trying to break me in half
I got just this one thing to say
Singing it from the bottom of my heart and soul

Nowhere I go
Nobody I see
Ain't no kind of bad advice I'm gonna take
From lying, quivering jealous lips
Pulling strings behind the scenes
Doing anything they can to hold back the girl
Who's got the drive
Who's got what it takes to really make it happen
All her dreams come true
Never gonna let anyone hold her back
Never ever gonna let anyone anywhere

Heart and mind set
On just one goal
Fame, fortune and my name up in those bright lights
For all the Hell they used to put me through in school
For all the pain and heartache I'm had to endure in my young life
This is what I'm earned
This is what I deserve
Ain't gonna be no stopping me
Now or ever
Grabbing that brass ring I'm holding on tight
I know the ride's gonna be tough
I know the ride's gonna be rough
But baby I don' t care cos I'm ready
Ready to be a star
So look out cos baby here I come
Skyrocketing my way to the very top
Pushing all others aside
All the while I'm singing my sweet sweet fighting song

Goes like this....
