Stop Not Laughing Please! Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Stop Not Laughing Please!

I couldn't stop laughing
when I knew, the voters rotten
were bought like brinjals in a bye-poll!
When an actor breathedabout
the alms and tokens thrown to the voters,
somewomen voters rose against him
and warned him with words of contempt,
as their honour was deeply hurt.
Who could stop me from laughing aloud?
The powerful Election Commission too
hung its head in shame and fell into a stupor!

When a popular Tamil poet quoted
on the research made on Andal,
the devotional poetess of the past
ofPerumal, the richest among the gods,
the Seers and the Vaishnavite priests
arose and launched a scathing attack
on the poet and lodged a complaint.
I had a good laugh about it!
When a priest used the Sanctum of Lord Siva
as a brothel in Kancheepuram,
where were these agents of god?
Might be engaged in holy penance!

The Sunday Times unravelled
the criminal acts of a god-man
Virender Dev Dixitin his ashrams
on the Tamil New Year day this month.
No dog has guts to yell at him!
The victims of this scoundrel had been
the followers of Brahma Kumaris!
I chuckled to laugh quietly
remembering my stay in Brahma's palace
to learn some yogamanoeuvres
for keeping my pressure under check.
