Hey planet Earth!
Why don’t you stop spinning?
Even just for a short burst..
Its your earnest spinning
That makes us rush
No time for a solemn hush
Its your spinning
That causes day and night
Making us chase to get things right
Before tomorrow strikes..
Its your spinning
That causes the clock to overdrive
With all three arms rushing
Turning and pulling
As long as they have loaded springs
Or with batteries full of power within..
Its your spinning
That makes us quarrel
Rat racing to reach the top
Faster than the average squirrel
Rushing, back biting, thumping, racing
Reach the heights, in time severely shortened
Standing proud
But on the ashes of our interns! ..
Its your spinning
That has caused so many ruins
To us, families, friends and anyone else in between..
How I wish you have a handle
I can then chase and catch you without trouble
Earnestly stop you spinning without hurdle
We can then rest and breathe
Kiss our kids on their cheeks
Our spouses will sparkle with these deeds..
So planet Earth
Kindly consider our humble request
That you stop spinning
Even just enough time
For a short romantic tweet
Please…
On a quiet evening in Belgaum..reading your poem twice! Very much enjoyed it...human nature, sometimes we want things to pass quickly, othertimes as you say, to slow down! ..looking forward to your next one.....spinning...spinning...a good 10!
Wow, fantastic poem. I like the idea of the earth to stop spinning for awhile, to stop time for a while. We cannot stop time and the rush goes on. Somehow I like the phrase 'make time' We will 'make' time for the things we think are really important. So really, stopping our hectic life to think about what really matters most and is most important, is so essential because indeed on and of we have to get out of the race and 'make' time for the romantic tweet' You said it superbly. Really a very well written and thought provoking poem. Very happy to see you on this website. Hans
