Stripped Of Things Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Stripped Of Things

Stripped of things.
Rediscovering what it means,
To value the blessing...
That brings to a human being.
Respect.
Caring and sharing.
First to prioritize.
Understanding.
With a want to comprehend.
Life.
From someone else's point of view.
Putting selfishness aside.

Stripped of things.
Images, symbols.
And material wishes,
More worshipped to get.
Has a way to re-evaluate,
The meaning of happiness.
No one who has peace of mind,
Can say they found it to purchase.
Since self worth is a feeling.
Not an impression to make.
Ask anyone who has 'things'.
Who will admit it to claim,
Having their things is more appreciated.
Than celebrating...
The living to experience witnessing life!

Stripped of things has a way,
To return one back to reality.
Knowing things to have,
Can never replace...
Love to know feel and touch.
Even when surrounded,
By all their 'stuff'...
People seem to want so much,
To have...
Respect.
Caring and sharing.
With someone who understands.
And wants to comprehend life,
From another point of view.
Putting selfishness aside.
Hoping to find common ground.
That is basic.
Without the B.S. to fluff it up!
