Summer Of Alchemy - Poem by James McLain
When summer comes, alchemy falls
softly speaking, when you turn your ear
away into my glowing heart.
Though it beats for now
the gift it gives at all, it beats for you.
And, when here I am, you are right now,
it's offered up, the sun again.
When held to close
and beating briefly burns and you.
Learning that forever means each leaf
each branch, forever brings.
Holding on to butterflies that summer
caught and let me go.
