Summer Pond Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Summer Pond

I'm a duck in the water, quack-quack
On a farm, in a pond, behind a huge red shack
Floating on the water, belly flat
I'm a duck in the water, quack-quack

I made a friend in the pond with a frog
Such a nice pretty green little frog
The frog likes to chat while swimming on his back
He looks so silly, floating like a log

On the shore is the old farmer's cat
Watching fish while they glide in a dance
Today he fell in, and kitty could not swim
Now he sits on the shore soaking-mad

It's a great summer day on the farm
All the creatures come to drink, and correspond
Billy dog jumped in; Just to join us in a swim
Three best friends in a pond

Oh how the farm animals love Summer
Everyday we all like to play
Except for the cat who is still soaking-mad
Because he does not like the water
