Summer Swelter~ Poem by Theodora (Theo) Onken

Summer Swelter~

Rating: 4.9

Drenched in this humidity...we suffer
Feeling claustrophobic in this Summering swelter
With bare feet we walk the yellow blades of grass
Looking for our green dressed shelter- - -

Longing for an Oasis of palms and water...
An emerald & aqua-blue jeweled place
Where an oft' cool breeze flows through the trees
While occasional sunbeams dance upon my face- - -

Where the fragrance of orchids permeates the air
And the Sun calms itself down
Hence making it much more bearable for all
Who reside in this old West Texas town...

The summer heat is scorching Indian peninsula too, ...But yes, this rhyme of yours has a soothing effect, a short and sweet rhyme, that flows swiftly and smoothly like water! ..............kudos!
