Summer's End Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Summer's End

(Old age)

At summer's end
We fade like flowers
Entering Autumn's bleak reign
Heralding Winter's cold embrace.

Seasons of man
Birth to grave
Spring the blossom of childhood
Summer grandeur of adulthood.

In Autumn hair turns grey
Steps begin to faulter
Time more pressing
Death's shadow ever closer.

Winter enfeebles old age
Life almost spent
Precious memories enjoyed
Times, before the summer ended.
