Sun Poem by Mamta Agarwal

Sun

Rating: 5.0

Don’t look so downcast
Nothing ever lasts.

Don’t you see?
I am always
At the receiving end,
That doesn’t stop me
From doing the work
I have been assigned.

People feel ambivalent
Towards me,
They love to hate me
When too cold, they feel malevolent.
Some suffer fromS.A.D,
They pray for me to rise
So that they can feel warm and gay.

But in summer,
When it gets too hot,
They get distraught
And annoyed.
How would I ripen
The fruits they so enjoy?

When the clouds cover me,
And it non stop pours,
They say I am a spoil sport,
As it becomes humid
And the clothes won’t dry.

Human nature is fickle,
So don’t buckle,
Because they change colours
Faster than a chameleon.
You can’t gain everyone’s
Approval,
One day they put you on
A pedestal,

And next pull
You down in disgust.
Isn’t this is what
They did to Christ?

So keep your focus and just
Remain steadfast
Like me,
And set your creativity free.
