Sunlight Poem by Tsani Jones

Sunlight

Rating: 5.0

I met conciousness this morning
Like a hammer into brick,
The steady screeching of an alarm
Navigating me through the maze and fog
Into a new day,

Not even a streetlamp lit,
Yet I felt the warmth of sunlight,
The heat of my passion
Lying beside me
Slumbering in the mist.

The faint luminescence of your
Cherub face, and the spillage
Of your brazen locks
On the pillow are enchanting,
Inviting, divine.

Looking at you, I know the meaning of life.

In all of these years
You never believed me when I
Said you light my world
But every morning is a new horizon
And a new wonder to behold.

As my lips feel the silky
Canvas of your cheek,
You feebly swat at me-
An invader in the nocturnal
Blissful realm you are hiding.

I can only tell you-
As long as I have air,
But you cannot truly
Be energized by your deep love
And paralyzing beauty as I am.

One day, your locks shall turn gray
And we shall walk from silver to gold-
But nothing can ever change
Between your illuminance and
My very soul, for I love you always.

Waking to you, my existence is in perpetual sunlight.
