Sunrise Poem by angel lockheart

Sunrise

Waking up at five a.m
I slide on cloths & steal downstairs
Whispering through the door
And jogging down the street
To my favorite place
Where I can dream
Where I can hope
Where I am free.

When I get there,
I lay on the grass
And the chill of it
Sends shivers up my spine
As the wind rustles the leaves around me
Sailing through the grass
Slipping over me
And I find once more
That I am at peace
With myself
And everything around me.

I watch the sun mounting from the ground
All the stunning colors escalating
As the reds turn to cherry,
And the blues turn to sapphire,
The yellows turn to molten gold,
The greens turn to the deepest emerald,
And the purples to the ripest plum.

As soon as the colors reach there peak,
They soon fade away
As if the sky is absorbing them
Draining away the color
Until the heavens once again are the palest blue
Hiding all the evidence that they had just been
The most extraordinary masterpiece
In this fantastical world around us.
