Supermoon Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Supermoon

Rating: 5.0

'Where do I go from here? '
I queried the sky.
'Close your eyes, '
Came the reply.

'What makes you think you exist? '
Asked a voice from within.
'What makes you think you are different?
Where does the idea that your thoughts matter arise from? '

'Hubris, ' came the concession.
Like the supermoon looming in a cloudy sky,
My belief in my own mind magnifies
My nebulous sense of self.

In the universe, even billions of egos
Burning bright in their own skies
Cannot light the tiniest fraction
Of the fringe of a distant galaxy.

'So how do I cope with my own despair? '
'Cease to think in terms of time and space.
Give up these notions of intelligence and cleverness.
Stop tromping down the road most traveled.'

'Be Diogenes.
Be Socrates.
Wander, Ponder,
Doubt.'

'Sit under the trees.
Listen to the leaves.
Sense the life surrounding you.
Sink into the hum of pure energy.'

'Remember that voices are only noise.
Emotions are only waves
On the surface of a vast sea.
In the depths is where eternity rests,
Undulating steadily
Sending out the energy
That feeds the engine of change.'

'Learn to surf.
Learn to float along like a leaf.
Let the flotsam churn beneath the surface.
Stretch out and sun yourself, unperturbed.'

'There is a brilliant light
In a blue sky
On a white beach
In a quiet cove
On a peaceful island in your mind.

It is only a retreat.
It may not be real.
But seek it now.
Heal your soul.
Reflect.
Rebuild your strength.

Ready yourself to re-engage
With reality.

Ego is burnt with hopes around and brilliant light shines with hopes and attitudes. This is interesting one definitely.10
