Surfeur.(Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Surfeur.(Translation) .

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The bodysurfer does not use a surfboard. He is surfing to the shore on a very high wave, near rocks, and is caught by an undertow and disappears. The poet catches the action at its crisis point, just before the drowning.
I chose this poem partly because I used to go surfing often on the West Coast beaches near Auckland. I only used a surfboard a couple of times.
