Sweet Corn Poem by Melanie Emikohe

Sweet Corn

Rating: 5.0

I'm tearing it up on one side
you, the other
your gaze fixed on mine
mine to yours
as we grazed in rhythm
till the last kernel...
Then we freed the naked cob.

And so it began...

Governments went quiet
to heed the animated souls
of our slurpy "corny" smooches.
