Taking Chances And Risks Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Taking Chances And Risks

Finding one's own way through life.
Is not the most easiest thing,
One still in their youth can do.
Today it takes more,
Than encouragement to state it heard.
When bombarded by a variety,
Of what from to pick.
And which road to choose.
Taking chances and risks.

The youth of today,
Are beset by challenges and risks to take.
And knowing what to do,
Is a difficult task.
Especially when there are schools to attend.
With lessons to learn and pray to pass.

These days a thinking process,
Is not what it had been in years gone by.
The speeding progress of technology,
Seems to have taken away,
Time to comprehend even basic questions to ask.
Or research what it is,
That may open another door to explore.
Many of our youth today,
Are clueless as what their minds are used for.
Other than to get what is wished and wanted,
As quick as possible.

Finding one's own way through life.
Is not the most easiest thing,
Today's youth are prepared to do.
Most are influenced by their peers.
As well as parents,
Who are still 'kids' in their minds too!
Wanting more to be 'friends'.
And not parents mature.
Teaching children how to have respect,
For themselves.
To know what it means to give it to others.
Or the importance of discipline.
Many of today's youth,
Eventually discover that on their own.
When confronted with reality.
And nonsense reality rarely condones.
If at all!
