Laughter is our chief source of existence,
Be it soft or loud.
Expressive as it always is,
It is meant to inject the spirit of joy,
Into the glittering eyes of the onlooker.
Its echoes can penetrate long distances,
And enliven the hearts – near or far.
So, we yearn for the magic touch -
Of the enchanting wand;
That emits the spark of joy
Flashing from a festive heart,
That can burst into an unrestrained
Echo of laughter.
O! How we love to share laughter.
Tears are on the other hand – silent.
As mute as the impregnable darkness.
As helpless as the burning trees.
They are the best friends of solitude.
For none come forward to share them.
Yet, they are an indispensable part of our existence.
As they speak many a wordless thought.
And glistening in our eyes –
Reflect our innermost selves,
Draped in the translucent fabric of laughter.
The same laughter, which perhaps
Chokes a thousand teardrops-
Writhing in excruciating agony,
Behind those helplessly mute lips,
Struggling desperately to explode –
Into incessant showers of relief.
