Tell Me, How Do You Sleep At Night Poem by Randy McClave

I wonder how was your day
Did you sit down and pray,
Or did you instead go out to play
Did you cared about what you did say.
Did you get to talk to any of your friends
Helping others and yourself to make amends,
Or did you just added up your dividends
While looking forward to the weekends.
Did you wake up early in the morning
Did you wake up with sadness and mourning,
Was there stress or a warning
Or were your memories still aborning.
Did you again talk about your mother
Or maybe about your sister or even your brother,
Or maybe there was some other
Maybe you didn't care, or had a druther.
Did you again drink a little bit too much
Did you again use someone as your crutch,
Do you remember who you did touch
Or do you not remember or care about such.
Did you wake up with a smile
Or instead did you wake up to the taste of guile,
Did you judge someone in a trial
Or again did you walk down the isle.
Did you wake up all alone
Or did you wake up with someone unknown
Has your reputation once again grown
Do you remember who threw the first stone.
Do you remember, who has stood beside you
And supported you on the good that you do,
Or did you place them in your queue
I wondered if you cared about the other shoe.
Did you remember to go or find yourself a job
Or did you think it would be easier to steal or rob,
Or maybe for help you pleaded and did sob
Maybe you rather be lazy, and a slob.
Are you wearing the very same clothes
That from the day before you have chose,
You don't care I really suppose
But, remember God isn't the only one who knows.
Do you care about what is wrong or right
During the day do continue your conflicts and your fight,
Or do you instead quickly take flight
So I wonder, and please tell me, how do you sleep at night.
