1211.What shall I do to treat the dream
That came with the message from my lover?
1212.If my carp-like eyes take to sleep at my begging
I will tell my lover the tale of my long enduring life.
1213.My life lasts as I see my lover in dreams
Though he makes no conscious presence to grace me.
1214.Enjoy my dreams which track him and bring his visions
Though he makes no his physical presence to grace me.
1215.My lover’s real presence then gave me pleasure.
Joy to see him now in dreams is also of equal measure.
1216.If he doesn’t wake me up when I am awake
My lover will not take leave of me in my dreams.
1217.Why should my cruel lover torment me in my dreams
When he doesn’t come and please me in wakeful hours?
1218.He seems to lie over my arms in my sleep
But rushes into my heart when I am awake.
1219.They are not aware of my lover’s visits in my dreams
And so blame him for not gracing me in waking hours.
1220.The women here scorn him for his desertion of me in day
As they know not how he delights me in dreams by night.
