Temptation Poem by Obinna Kenechukwu Eruchie

Temptation

Temptation to endure,
Nemesis that does lure,
Feels so good, it’s impure.
Misleading adventure
I must resist for sure.
Resist so hard, a cure!

Temptation’s forbidding
Mysterious formless thing,
So intent on keeping
Me off from right doing.
Its influence drawing
Me to deadly sinning.

Temptation’s force, so thick,
A force that moves so quick,
Full of alluring tricks;
Its offers seem so sleek.
It tries to get me weak,
My downfall, it tends to seek.

Temptation, hard to beat,
In a battle, a cheat
Trying to fool me with treat
In form of a fierce heat,
A heat so hot to defeat;
Must overcome its sleet.

Temptation, the smooth creep
That traps with tightened grip,
To pull me in so deep
Into a sensual trip
To its lair that does clip
With fantasies it flips.

Temptation at me, glances.
Its power to enhance
To put me in a trance
To get me off balance
Have to maintain my stance
To its tune, I’ll not dance.

Temptation, go away
Can’t have you spoil my day,
On me, you tried to prey,
Won’t let myself get stray,
For there’s no game you play
That will divert my way.
