Ten Trillion To One Poem by Shaun Cronick

Ten Trillion To One

Rating: 5.0

I'll tell you straight.
No bullshit.
Eye to eye.
Man to man.
I know there have been...
Grievances,
Unpleasantries,
Complaints,
And grudges.
Between you and my son.
But as you know he's in prison.
Just started a stretch of 5 years for manslaughter.
Murder actually,
But I hired a real smart expensive lawyer,
And I threatened the jury and the judge.
And he got 5 years.
But he'll be out in less than half of that,
Good behaviour,
Role-model inmate,
All that bollocks.
And my dutiful son took the wrap for me.
His dear old dad.
So it's like this,
I love my son,
My only son,
And if anything happens to my only son,
While he's doing his porridge,
I'm gonna blame you.
If he gets a splinter in his thumb,
In the wood work shop,
I'm gonna blame you.
If he commits suicide in front of,
The Governor and a thousand inmate witnesses,
And is filmed live doing it.
I'm gonna blame you.
If he's taking a shower,
And is attacked by a giant squid.
I'm gonna blame you.
If he's taking a stroll in the courtyard,
And is abducted by aliens.
I'm gonna blame you.
If he's in the prison chapel,
And God and sonny sweet Jesus decide,
To cut his head off.
I'm gonna blame you.
And if a rogue comet obliterates the prison,
And my son,
I'm gonna blame you.
So in a nutshell if anything,
Nasty,
Wicked,
Surreal,
Incredible,
Awful,
Worst parts of the bible,
Anything,
Anything at all,
Even if the odds are,
Ten trillion to one,
Against any harm coming to my son.
I'm gonna blame you.
Just to let you.
And you know what I can do.
What I'm capable of.
Have a nice day.

You excel in the dark world. This is where you must live.

Spot on. I live in Cardiff.... It's extremely dark especially before sunrise and after it.
