Tessy Wades Into Me Poem by Ivan Chizurum Ezeigbo

Tessy Wades Into Me

Am baffled in thoughts
Am victorious in spirit
I was wounded at heart
I cannot agree more
Hitting my consciousness off like a ball in a tennis bat

Tessy wades into me
With a goodbye kiss
I wonder what I'm supposed to feel
From a going treasure hunt
At last to find the bait that I'd miss

Maya Tessy,
Did the Queen of England send you to me
Because she alone have I offended
Did she send you to steal away with my heart
And tell me all I've worked hard for has ended

It's difficult to decide who you are
A liar or a pretender
You pretend like nothing is happening
And now, just at the last hour
A kiss, to make my heart sour

Imagine the morning sun
As it jumps into the sky
And shone happiness on us all
Then as we all fall in love with it
It heads west, into the shadows, to sit

Behind the mountains, behind the trees
My love for you has known no fit
I'm controlled in all sound from your acoustic voice
Trembling in every touch of my arm
And every smile and heart of ours
Will wait with hope for days to come
