Thanksgiving Day Poem by Marilyn Lott

Thanksgiving Day

Rating: 5.0

It’s a once a year occasion
And oh, what an exciting day
Gather with family and friends
It’s an occasion we want to stay

Mr. Turkey is front and center
Plump, juicy and deliciously brown
Cranberry sauce and dressing
At the table to pass around

The creamy mashed potatoes and gravy
Heaped right atop our plate
Rolls hot and flaky with melted butter
Add to the scrumptious food we ate

The green bean dishes steaming
With perfect crispy onions too
Yams so sweet and golden
Are brought to the table for you

Don’t forget the sweet yellow corn
That our pilgrims had long ago
We must always think of them too
We respect those people so

Pumpkin pie and whipped cream
Other delights to have as well
Barely are we able to eat them
As our bellies began to swell

It’s a day unlike any other
I hope that you can truly say
You were as thankful as I was with
A wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

Having laid it all before me, I cannot help but take it. How come you had it well gathered... spiced, boiled, baked. May God take you to even greater heights. You have what it takes. Shouting from the highest mountains in Africa from Paul S.Mugano.
