That Could Be Me Poem by Ace Of Black Hearts

That Could Be Me

A warm up.
A race to the summit.
Pulling on the strings attached to my back like aniquated puppet.
Calling on energy pulled out of thin air.
A pulse that skips a beat.
Dear me son please do take a seat.
No I don't meaning run off with it.
Walking is always preferred.
You look so tired that you about expire.
Dead drop right on the spot.
Can tell me how you got this way.
It's okay there is no judgement here.
Your words will never leave this room.
Protection from above in the form of love.
But only if you allow me in.
Let's explore the cause of the pain.
Let's see what we can change.
Let's see what we can rearrange.
To the letter, dotting the tees, and crossing out the eyes.
The complexity of compromise.
Just keep rolling the dice till it lands on something nice.
If you will, if you wood.
Proding at places you shouldn't.
A threat not so dire.
Forgive me if I stare, smile, and admire.
I was young once too.
I've been there.
So scared that your life won't add up.
Never enough.
Unqualified and unsatisfied.
Setting your goals too high.
If there could be such a thing.
My advice has always been the same, just enjoy the day, the moment and stop worrying about about could ofs and should ofs.
We all make mistakes, and no matter how deep hole goes there is always a way out.
It might require a little bit of work.
But to succeed in world you will have to at some point get your hands dirty.
That's unless you are one of the fortunate few born with silver spoon.
Then I would ask you put yourself in their shoes.
Literally get into the muck and work alongside them if you want truly understand the demand.
What it takes with a back to break.
And mouths to feed in the face of so much greed.
Perspective a time honored tradition.
If it only was practice by more.
Instead assuming that all people are given the same opportunities and chances.
The homeless man will get my respect before the dashing wall street broker, or sexy bank secretary.
Not that they didn't earn it.
For honestly I don't know anything by appereances
But because they don't need it.
They got it easy, compared to so many others.
No matter their life dramas.
They will not have to worry about where they sleep, or when they are gonna get to eat.
Being not hungry should not be a luxury.
No matter the country.
And everytime I buy food I feel guilty about those have none.
Why do I deserve more then that man.
When I rest my head, my sleepest night involve why does that man have sleep out in cold.
Call this rant if you want.
But I live in poverty like many others and don't have means to change these kind of things.
So I give you my expression of anger and frustrations about this subject in a very bias way.
Because that could be easily me in years to come.
