That First Rain - Poem by Zenub Husain

That first rain washed away my worries
it washed away my pain
so tired I felt
It was not just any rain

I cried within
Steady and slowly, it kept on pouring
It drenched my skin
And deep inside, I heard myself screaming

I could hear pitter patter on roof tops
I could see children with their paperboats sailing
I could feel a crowd outside
And I all alone weeping

It was then
that something inside me said
There is only one way
let your memories fade

Keep up the good ones
Let go of the others
Is'nt that the way to live
It wont be always rough rainy weather! !
