That Moment Poem by Josh Currier

That Moment

If I could get back any moment in my life,

It would be that moment I met you.

That look in your eyes, the smile on your face,

Who wouldve ever knew.

The most beautiful thing Ive ever seen,

I couldnt take my eyes away.

I just kept looking at you over and over,

I had never before felt this way.

It was almost like I was frozen in time,

This amazing feeling coming over me.

Like I was staring in a better future,

You were all that I could see.

Catching you looking over at me,

I knew somehow we were bound.

Taking an empty seat next to you at the bar,

Even though there was no one around.

I still remember that very first smile,

Sitting there making fun of those guys.

Completely ignoring the dude you were with,

He wanted you but you were destined to be mine.

After you left you never left my mind,

Everything about you burned into my brain.

Laying awake that night thinking of you,

Telling myself this is completely insane.

Why do I feel like this,

I had just talked to you for a while?

But for the longest time I had my eye on you,

All I could picture was your smile.

So the very next day,

I knew what I had to do.

I had to find that girl of my dreams,

So I set off to try and find you.

It was the best decision Ive ever made,

You instantly made my life worth living.

I had been so sad for such a long time,

My true love was there for the taking.

I still have all those messages,

And even some keep forever texts.

Ill cherish those memories forever and ever,

For all those memories are my best.

Hearing your voice on the phone that first time,

To not being able to wait to see your face.

That first amazing kiss in the snow,

Took me to some other worldly place.

If there really is a heaven,

It was that moment when your lips first touched mine.

Oh god the feeling it gave me inside,

I couldnt sleep that night no matter how hard I tried.

Like I said when you first asked,

You were my girlfriend the first time I saw you.

There was never a need to call us an item,

Because from the beginning it was true.

From that very first glance I took the chance,

That you were destined to be mine.

Though we both had so many problems,

Working together the future would be fine.

All we needed was each other,

And to stick by each other for all time.

No matter what problem lie ahead,

As long we never gave up we'd be just fine.

Maybe one day I can relive those memories,

And have that first kiss once more.

To hold you in my arms and never let go,

And make the future 1000 times better than before.

For Amanda, I miss you unlike Ive ever missed anyone
