The King And His Castle Poem by Josh Currier

The King And His Castle

Rating: 5.0

In my life Ive done some things I regret,
None of them should’ve ever happened.
I wish I had taken time to think,
And for that im forever saddened.

I regret not taking my time,
Making sure I was doing the right thing.
I didn’t pay attention to what was going on around me,
I jumped at the chance to be king.

The king of the castle,
Sitting high and mighty on his throne,
I couldn’t have been more far from wrong,
Because I sit here all alone.

I thought I was building a kingdom,
For you and I to live free.
But instead I created a huge black hole,
So deep the rim was impossible to see.

I did it without thinking,
Having only our future in mind.
I wasted away our love for one another,
With total carelessness I did find.

I should’ve seen what was in front of me,
It was there the entire time.
You and I in love against the world,
That, I may never again find.

Ive learned from all my stupid mistakes,
But the damage is already done.
If only I could ever make it up to you,
I promise to show you I really am the one.

To make your life as happy as possible,
To see you smile and say I love you too.
Never having you go through any pain,
That’s all I ever wanted for you.

I cherished our time together,
Though it was short lived.
It seemed like an eternity though,
And for an eternity with you, anything Id give.
