That Which Glows Within Us Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

That Which Glows Within Us

Rating: 5.0

A price to pay.
For the misdeeds,
Of the heartless performance...
Done did to do,
By a collected thoughtless few.
Has been long overdue.
And noticeably shown,
Have been warnings.
Warnings gone ignored.
To exhaust the pointlessness,
For more of the same...
Addressed to personalize,
The seriousness it is to give...
Undivided and kept focused,
Attention to them given.

Only God can create,
Effective solutions...
To initiate them implemented.
With a mysteriousness,
No one can explain.
But witness this.

'That light within us,
Glowing as if...
Independently animated.
Perceived to be ours to use.
From birth...
To choose whatever we do.
Pleasing our every whim.
And chosen self impulses.
Often premeditated to pick.
'What is it' or 'who'...
Turns on and off that switch? '

'You talking to me? '

'Why are you looking around?
Of course I'm talking to you.
Who else is here? '

'With you?
I can't believe,
You of all people...
Would ask me that question.
Well...
Anyway.
I can't answer that!
And...
Geessshhh.
How would I know,
Who turns a switch on or off?
I was born with that light on.'

'Exactly!
You have proven my point.'

'Now!
My question to you is this...
Who do I get permission,
To turn your switch off?
You need headrest,
My brutha.
Lots! '
