That You Are Trying To Survive Poem by Gert Strydom

That You Are Trying To Survive

You coming into my life I saw as a Godly sign
and in your company I did thrive,
with prayers I tried our love to enshrine,
where you have been the love of my life,
where love is holy to add to it something divine,
as you are my friend, companion and wife,
I tried to still keep you as mine
in a time of heartache and of strive
but without you the will to live does away pine

and I again ask God to join us where we are apart
to protect you from every kind of ill,
to make you full of kindness rather than smart
and to guide us to His eternal will,
to bring us again eye to eye and heart to heart,
with harmony and tranquillity our lives to fill,
to make you willing with me for a fresh start,
where you do remain in my spirit and soul still

and in my heart and flesh you remain,
as if I am caught by a kind of spell,
where your true self, is grasped by my brain,
while you do deep in my heart dwell.
You are so part of me as if we cannot part again,
but where you do not want me in your life it's hell,
being away and divided from you brings great pain
and that you are trying to survive, you do me tell.
