Shyam, why did You come?
Was it to perform the *Raas* with the Gopis?
Or did You come
To bring about the war of Mahabharata?
Or did You come
To explain the true meaning of love?
It was none of these alone;
You came into this world
To kindle hope in both the animate and the inanimate.
You laid the foundation on Earth
To awaken the flame of conscious energy;
Becoming an inextinguishable light,
You spread radiance across the entire world.
Even while remaining outside of worldly power,
You adorned the world with noble deeds;
As the Master of all creation—animate and inanimate—
You came simply to lavishly bestow Your divine grace.
