The Alms of Love
Open, O Beloved, open the door;
I stand as a mendicant, offering my devotion.
Grant me, for just a moment, the alms of love,
And this life shall blossom like a lotus.
Just open, O Beloved, open the door.
For so long I have stood here as a supplicant,
Making my ceaseless, earnest plea:
Grant me the alms of love,
That this world may become pure.
Age after age, as a seeker,
I have asked for the alms of love;
I shall share this gift with the world,
Then return once more as a supplicant,
To plead again for the alms of love.
