The Battle Poem by Sebastian Melmoth

The Battle

Rating: 5.0

Battle against a troubled mind
Arguments the characters on its stage
A negative drama ensues

Battle against anxiety
Morning, noon, night
Constant anguish constant pain

Battle against depression
Waterfalls of low mood crashing down on my thoughts
Fait accompli, I'm afraid with no happy ending here

Battle against self-worth
The lesson be, you're the Judas of your own story
A case study in the human condition a slow death

No pills to fix it
No help can to overcome
The Mountains of disdain

A fake face, hides the mental illness
A false picture of smiles, a human smoke screen
Hiding the pain for miles

When I go don't cry for me because I'll be free of this discomfort
Free like the beauty of birds soaring
Heading into the peace of the bluest sky

So as my time draws to a close and my story book finishes it's final chapter
I hope in fear at least one fond memory of me you'll remember will remain true and dear.
