The Blessings Of Poverty Poem by Freeyad Ibrahim

The Blessings Of Poverty

by Freeyad Ibrahim

They say poverty is misery and hunger
And I say yes, hundred times in number
The poor man feels sad and sombre,
but poverty is not without blessings.
He who has got an empty stomach,
His head is full..his mind burns
like an amber.
Would anyone of you ever wonder?
why have the genius been vanished
from existence in this era
above and under?
The geniuses and big celebrities
stayed up nights from hunger.

The poor choose onions and garlics,
vegetables, lettuces and cucumber,
cowpeas, barley, and lady's finger
Would any of you ever wonder?
Why does a poor man rarely suffer
from diabetes or high blood pressure,
Cardiovascular
Fatal cancer,
Which are only the rich's disaster
who eat fat and fried Humberger
who avoid eating lentils,
for fear of getting abdominal disorder!
