The Bloodstained Shadow Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

The Bloodstained Shadow

I saw a Cross-laden shadow
A shadow in the stormy desert sands of yore
With His blood, scribbling immutable times down generations

I was awe stricken
By a shadow, whose bloodstains watered the ancient desert sands
Flowers began to grow
And the desert began to bloom again

I saw a shadow
A shadow struggling through the human timeline
"DELIVERER" written with a crown of thorns on His head
"HEALER" tattooed all over His body

I saw a shadow
A dust of souls angling into heaven from behind Him
With songs ‘n praises of "Blessed is the holy One"
As a sun of salvation rose from His forehead

I saw a shadow laden with a heavy cross
From whose blood droplets, the desert turned green again
In the puddles wherein souls were washed clean
And clothed in mercy'n life everlasting
