The Broken Soul - Poem by Lance Carthen

Rusting beauty in the closet
The last kiss so dramatic
Silent whispers so erotic
The sun shining on her face
Trying to bring it back with a thought
Forever the broken soul
Wishing for the impossible
A tear slowly slides
Wet with memories of the wanted life
Hitting the floor and spreading
Spreading the wonder of the story untold
The moon rises over the dark horizon
Releasing its nocturnal glow
Billions of lives beneath it
Fast asleep the content
Yet one wide awake gazing at the sky
Forever the broken soul
Shutting his eyes tightly
Pleading for some sort of serenity
An escape from the tragedy
His love was taken beyond his control
Exhaustion taking its toll
Finally laying to sleep
Within minutes lapsing into a dream
Gone in the dream
He encounters a radiant soul
Kissing him softly
He struggles for control
His love has returned to him
One last time to console
Embracing under the moonlight
She tells him she must go
This time leaving him an eternal glow
Followed by one last kiss
Receiving his final wish
He cries upon her chest
Then in an instant she vanishes
Waking up in tears he finds...
His pain has dissapeared
There is once again love on the inside
Staring at an old photograph, he cries
Placing it softly on his pillow
He says I love you and....Good bye
