The Cell Poem by gina layog

The Cell

Rating: 5.0

the walls around me no longer encased me,
My cell has vaporized.. and set me free..
No longer trapped.. I hopped with glee...
Looking forward to the future ahead...
I set my sail... of vulnerability.. of independence..
Flowing through the breeze...guided by the wind...
Yet I sensed this emptiness.. this void...
Yet to be filled with life's experiences...
Like a bird starting to fly...it stumbles...
I'm afraid...and looked back...
at the cell that encased me...
it shielded me, it gives me stability...
yet it held me back to life's isanities..
preserve my innocence...
now I'm on my own... and learning to dance..
to play the game... to sink or swim...
all this freedom it overwhelms...
for someone who just left their cell....
