The Chase Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

The Chase

Rating: 5.0

Take me by surprise
Like sunlight in my eyes
Like the touch of an old friend
In some foreign corner of the world.

Capture my attention
Like a falling star
Like my name heard whispered
In an exchange between two strangers.

Lull me into contentment
Like clouds passing in a blue sky
Like a lullaby sung in a soothing voice
By a young mother cuddling her infant.

Then tame me
Like a sailor at sea
Like a trainer petting a tiger
Like a warlock riding a dragon.

Cautiously
Respectfully
Courageously
Or not at all.
