The Cherry Tree Poem by Kasia Fedyk

The Cherry Tree

I remember that day so clear
I sat under a cherry tree
she gave me shelter and comfort
I felt the roughness and gentleness of her thick trunk against my skin
and there I could rest my aching back
the peaceful feel she gave
was like a drink of water for a thirsty soul.

Her beautiful arms extended far beyond my vision
and the flowers she carried
that blossomed was her glorious smile
and for a moment she erased all my past
with a song she sang
she took it away and made it disappear
with the flow of her melody
in an instant
she was the magician.

I sat alone but not lonely
resting my body under her protection
my soul and my heart
became complete
and I swayed with her
to her music
for a long time to come.
