The Christian Heart Poem by Benjamin Chiu Uy

The Christian Heart

The Christian Heart

Alive and breathing in an
Uncertain timesand uncertain air,

I am a thoughtful man, modern yet shackled in primal fears jealous of the competitors, a breed of time,

When savages like our descended fathers killed the enemy without a trace of remorse.

It happened in the pagan times,

But sometimes came Jesus Christ and his spiritual conceptto love yourneighbours enemies as thyself

Eating this processed foods organic or inorganic, the feeling gratefulness, ungratefulness, obligated in knowing

acknowledging that I am one of the billions in this same ship, this same planet where anything can happen, destroy life, civilisation with a wink of the eye.

A mad dictatorialbluff, a presidential miscalculated blunder, the press of the wrong buttons keys on the doomsday computers, in the internecine times of greed and superpowers,

Supportive, the hope of science and technologies to make me well and immortal

Otherwise all the madness of the atom bombs can destroy life forever and send the cinders to the dead stars.

And the hordes ofinfectious disease, viruses that anytime can come from this polluted planet,

From the millions of factories, dirt and pollutions of non biodegradableplastics

I am alive today in certain, uncertain status quo is preserved and if invading disease would spare me of their bludgeons.

Or in any ofuncertain time when the enemy strike with the fury and speed of the lightning gods wrath,

And all are predicted the fall of therein.

Spare me your Christian heart and good wills,
It may never be enough.
