The City Lights Poem by Gert Strydom

The City Lights

In front of me the city lies stretched out
with pulsating cyber lights
and I wonder how many people
will see the last of life’s light tonight?

I hear smack of a car crash,
in the distant a shot resounds
and somewhere the lights flicker
one after another
even before the dawn
of old comes.
