The Clouds Poem by Jim Yerman

The Clouds

Rating: 5.0

I was standing on the porch this morning…
as a new day had begun…
delighted at the view…
excited to see the sun.

Ready to greet the sun and welcome in the day…
yet, the more I tried to see the sun…
the more clouds got in the way.

And I got to thinking about those clouds…
how they constantly rearranged…
how beautifully they blend together…
how they're not afraid of change.

How they light up from within as they journey across the sky…
and how when they're filled with sadness…they're not afraid to cry.

I found myself mesmerized by the clouds
as they blended
and danced
and played
as if I was suddenly seeing the world through the eyes of Claude Monet

And to my surprise…as I stood watching the clouds…
as my eyes contemplated each and every one…
from the comfort of my porch…
I forgot about the sun.
